Learning to play a musical instrument requires dedication and persistence. Students are expected to attend their weekly scheduled lesson, without exception, as this time slot is reserved exclusively for the student.
If the student is unable to attend the weekly lesson, the student and/or parent must advise their teacher, at minimum, 24 hours before the scheduled lesson. The lesson may be rescheduled prior to the next lesson given there are available time slots.
Failure to notify the teacher 24 hours in advance will result in forfeiture of the scheduled lesson without refund or reschedule.
Little Rock Jams will be closed on New Years Eve, New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Halloween (Close at 6 p.m.), Thanksgiving, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
The student may check out studio material such as CD's, DVD's and music books at any time during their lesson block, excluding the last week of the block.
To check out material, the student will need to present the item to their teacher. The teacher will then "check out" the material to the student. The student may keep the material for one week. All items must be checked back in by the next scheduled lesson.
A $25 recovery fee will be charged for each lost item.
Internet Usage - The student and/or parent may use the waiting area computer to surf the internet on Little Rock Jams high-speed internet connection. Parental controls are enabled to minimize inappropriate material. However, any student found and/or identified to be accessing objectionable material will be dismissed from the studio.
Parents - For your convenience, if you would prefer to surf on your wireless enabled laptop, let us know and we'll configure your laptop to access our network.
Music Software - All computers are equipped with music software for use by the student to practice/warm-up/tune-up/record/compose/transcribe/etc. If the student does not have access to similar software at home, they are welcome to use the studio computer at any time. When using the computers, please respect volume levels, especially when lessons are being conducted
(Headphones are recommended - don't forget to bring them)
Regular jam sessions will be held for both Adults and budding rock stars (children under 18 years old). Adult jam sessions will be held during weeknights with the budding rock stars jamming on Saturday afternoon. Jam sessions will vary from acoustic (no rhythm section) to a fully backed rhythm section with Drums, Bass and Keyboards. A variety of tunes will be played, including Blues, Rock, Jazz, Latin and Country, to ensure the student experiences a wide range of styles.
Look for weekly sign-up sheets in the waiting area.
Playing music is an exciting and engaging activity. Students will have the opportunity to interact with many other musicians. Everyone, from teacher to student to parent to friends, is expected to show common courtesy and respect to others at all times.
Parents - While we do encourage learning music at an early age, if siblings are brought to the lesson, please ensure they do not disturb the lesson or play with any of the other student instruments (drums, guitars, keyboards, etc.). Several age appropriate internet websites are bookmarked on the waiting room computer for their pleasure (i.e. NickJr.com, PBSKids.org, Discoverykids.com, and Cartoonnetwork.com).
Finally, Little Rock Jams has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for Profanity and use of Alcohol and/or Drugs. Any student exhibiting inappropriate behavior or under the influence of drugs/alcohol will be dismissed. No Exceptions!
Little Rock Jams reserves the right to dismiss the student at any time. Events warranting dismissal may include, but are not limited to, consistent failure to practice or prepare for lessons, willful damage to studio property and/or equipment, inappropriate use of studio computers and/or internet connections, willful deleting of software and/or loading of viruses to studio computers, use of profanity, alcohol and/or drug use, theft of property.
